Annual Business Inquiry
The Annual Business Inquiry is a two-part survey of a representative sample of employers in the UK carried out by the Office for National Statistics. The two parts are ABI/1 which collects information on employment and ABI/2 which collects financial information. Completion of the survey is compulsory under the Statistics of Trade Act 1947.Results from ABI/1 are released on the NOMIS website but access to the raw data is restricted to those who have a Chancellor of the Exchequer's Notice. Analysis of the data for Hertfordshire is however available in sets of factsheets (at county and district level) on hertsdirect.org. The factsheets analyse employees in employment in an area by the industry group of the company they work for, their gender and whether they work full or part-time. They are available by selecting the link entitled Annual Business Inquiry factsheets on hertsdirect (on the right hand side of the screen).
The NOMIS website is available by selecting the link entitled NOMIS (on the right hand side of the screen).
