Electoral statistics

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) publish annual UK Electoral Statistics. These tables show the number of people who on 1st December each year were registered to vote in elections following the annual canvass carried out by Electoral Registration Officers in the UK. The latest figures, for 2010, were published on 23rd February 2011.

There are 2 tables of statistics reflecting the number of electors registered to vote.

Table 1 outputs local government electors by local government areas. Local government areas are unitary authorities, London boroughs and district councils in England; unitary authorities in Wales; council areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Table 2 outputs parliamentary electors by parliamentary constituencies in the UK.

More information on these statistics is available by selecting the link entitled UK Electoral Statistics (on the right hand side of the screen).
