Jobcentre Plus East of England - Hardest to Help Data Atlas

The National Employment Panel (NEP) publication "A New Deal for All" (January 2004) found that, in addition to length of unemployment, a combination of the factors below place people at particular risk of joblessness:

  • people without partners
  • sick and disabled people
  • those with no or low skills
  • people over 50 years old
  • residents of areas with high unemployment
  • ethnic minorities and refugees
  • ex-offenders
  • substance abusers
  • homeless people

As a first step to improving their service to these "hardest to help" customers, in 2005, Jobcentre Plus East of England, in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council and EEDA, mapped where they are located in greatest number within the region. This atlas holds the maps and the data used to create them. The atlas contains mapped information for:

  • Children in a lone parent household
  • Lone parents
  • Children without a parent in work
  • Male employment
  • Retired males
  • Sick and disabled males
  • Female employment
  • Retired females
  • Sick and disabled females & females caring for family
  • Income support
  • Job seekers allowance
  • Non white population
  • Homelessness

The Atlas is available on the Insight East website by selecting the link entitled Jobcentre Plus Data Atlas (on the right hand side of the screen).
