A Vision of Hertfordshire through Time

A Vision of Britain Through Time, funded by the UK National Lottery, has been created to make this resource available on-line to everyone, presenting the information graphically and cartographically. Historical information is available on:

  • Roots and Religion
  • Agriculture and Land Use

Visit the A Vision of Britain Through Time website by selecting the link entitled A Vision of Britain Through Time (on the right hand side of the screen). The website has the facility to search for a named area or District and find census populations from 1801 onwards.

The Great Britain Historical Geographical Information System is aunique digital collection of information about Britain's localities asthey have changed over time. Information comes from census reports,historical gazetteers, travellers' tales and historic maps, assembledinto a whole that is much more than the sum of its parts.
