Indices of Deprivation 2007
The Index of Multiple Deprivation 2007 (IMD 2007) is a Super Output Area (SOA) level measure of multiple deprivation and is made up of seven SOA level Domain Indices. These are combined to give an overall Index of Multiple Deprivation. Three of the seven domains are each subdivided into three further sub-domains. There are also two supplementary Indices (Income Deprivation Affecting Children and Income Deprivation Affecting Older People). Summary measures of the IMD 2007 are presented at County, Unitary and District levels. The SOA level Domain Indices and IMD 2007, together with the district and county level summaries are referred to as the Indices of Deprivation 2007 (ID 2007). These Indices are an update of those provided in the Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004.
The methodology underpinning the ID 2004 and the ID 2007 are largely the same though there have been small changes to some of the underlying indicators. Comparison between the two Indices is therefore acceptable. The default maps are for the 2010 indices so you will need to select 2007 once you have selected an LSOA.
